How it all started

It started as a way to support my wife and the impact MS has had on her life. It continues as a way to support and bring hope to all who suffer from MS!

Our story

In 2012, my wife Lynn was diagnosed with MS. We had no clue and really no knowledge of what that meant. We thought she was experiencing issues with her neck, only to find out it was much worse than that. Lynn joined a local MS Support group and participated in a local MS Walk event. The next year, I walked with her and it was at that event I learned about BikeMS. In 2014 we started our team, Team Sozo, as we both realized that very few people truly understand the complexity and the complications that MS brings to the lives of those with this disease. We both realized that if we could help bring awareness, educate those around us about this disease, and support the fundraising efforts in our community and state, then we could bring hope to all who fight this each and every day. In 2021, we joined forces with Dave Krueger and his cycling team out of St Charles, Illinois through the connection with one of our NC riders, John Larem who also rides with MS. Since then, Team Sozo has continued to ride in BikeMS Tour de Farms, St Charles, IL. – Historic BikeMS New Bern, NC – Tour to Tanglewood, Clemmons, NC and BikeMS Bay to Bay, Irvine, CA.

Our Vision

Our vision is a world free of MS. Until you spend time with all who are impacted by this disease, you never truly understand the physical and the mental toll it takes on their bodies as well as their minds. MS has no boundaries and it can impact each person in so many different ways. Our goal from the beginning and continues today is this, Bring Awareness, Be loud in our efforts, remember the millions of people we are fighting and riding for and most importantly, never give up!

Welcome to Team Sozo Cycling!!! Check back often as we are redesigning to bring you the best insights and pics of our team and our events.
